Orchestra Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946, picking up its Royal title in 1966. Its music directors have included Antal Dorati, Andre Previn, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniele Gatti, and currently Vasily Petrenko. The RPO are Resident Orchestra at the Cadogan Hall, Associate Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall and also perform at the Southbank Centre. Included in its varied recorded output are three discs for Opera Rara: Donizetti’s Gabriella di Vergy, Meyerbeer’s Il crociato in Egitto and Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoe.
