About

Join us on 19 September 2024 for the opening concert of Opera Rara’s 2024/25 Salon Series. Enjoy an evening of rare songs and arias performed by Welsh soprano Jessica Robinson, a finalist in the 2023 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, alongside pianist James Southall, Music Director for the Royal Welsh College’s Opera Studio. The program features arias by Pergolesi, Scarlatti, and Handel, as well as rare Italian and French songs by Donizetti and his contemporaries.

The evening will also highlight compositions by Morfydd Llwyn Owen (1891 – 1918), a pioneering Welsh composer, continuing Opera Rara’s exploration of songs by women in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The night begins with a welcome drink at 7:00 PM followed by the performance at 7:30 PM and post-concert reception with the artists.
