Breaking into the opera profession has never been more challenging than it is now. Emerging artists face fewer opportunities, less funding and narrowing paths into the profession, due to a combination of a shrinking number of available roles, rising production costs and limited platforms to make a mark. Without the generosity of our supporters, the voices opera’s future depends on will be increasingly blocked by these immense barriers to building sustainable careers.
With your help, Opera Rara will give gifted young singers:
- The chance to give their first professional recording, under the Opera Rara name – offering a career-defining launchpad.
- Marketing, distribution and production costs for these recordings, ensuring their voices will be brought to new audiences worldwide.
- The opportunity to give live performances in top locations, in front of industry professionals and opera-lovers.
Because of our supporters’ generosity last year, four rising stars were able to make their professional recording debuts on Puccini’s La rondine (the final 1921 version), and three performed in our Salon Concerts.

“It’s my first recording project. It’s a really exciting career step for me. When I think of the overwhelmingly impressive group of singers who have recorded with Opera Rara and the history of who has come before, it’s both daunting and exciting. This will be the highlight of my career so far.”Ellie Neate, 2025 beneficiary of our Next Generation Appeal
