Since its founding in 1970, Opera Rara has built an artistic family of more than 350 singers, conductors and instrumentalists who have helped bring rare and forgotten operas and songs to life, both in the recording studio and on stage. Opera Rara has created a lasting artistic legacy with some of opera’s most famous stars, while continuing to nurture the next generation of singers. We have offered many artists their first recording opportunities, helping to bring their talent to audiences around the world.

Our family of artists speaks for itself. Our Artist Ambassadors Michael Spyres and Ermonela Jaho made important recording debuts with us. A young Renée Fleming made her first full-length operatic recording with Opera Rara. A whole range of distinguished artists have worked on Opera Rara projects, and numerous legends of the opera stage remember Opera Rara as one of their earliest mentors.

Opera Rara doesn’t just revive great operas of the past, it helps create the opera stars of the future.
